Frankie (Frances) HillFrankie (Frances) Hill. Retired Headmistress of a very big school in Ireland, called “The Kings Hospital School”, just outside of Dublin

My husband and I took one of Dirk Joubert’s individually designed tours a short while ago. The tour lasted 2 weeks and was designed around our wishes and needs.

Dirk’s knowledge of South Africa, his expertise, his attention to the smallest detail and his personal attention to us, at every stage of the journey, ensured that our experience of South Africa was one of extreme pleasure and depth leaving us feeling that we understood a little of this vast and wonderful country.

Because of the unique planning, we tasted the beauty and sophistication of Cape Town, the Garden Route, Knysna and the East Coast. From the North West of SA to the North East we enjoyed two very different Safari Parks and Lodges with the wonderful mountains and waterfalls between. All accommodation, flights and car hire worked perfectly. A truly wonderful experience from which we took much more than ordinary holiday memories, thanks to Dirk Joubert and his genuine interest in giving us a wonderful time. – Frances (Frankie) Hill.

Philip & Sandra Gray,Philip & Sandra Gray, Ireland

We spent 3 weeks in SA. We flew to Jo’burg from Ireland for our nephew’s wedding in Pretoria. We were met at apt by Dirk Joubert who had organised our hotel which was first class. After the wedding, we flew to Port Elizabeth where again Dirk met us and then subsequently looked after us for a week..visiting all sorts of interesting places along the garden route to Capetown.

He brought us to Addo Elephant park where we stayed in a wonderful lodge and Dirk barbecued for us that evening! Nothing seemed too much trouble for him and he knew we were on a budget and even allowing for that he organised wonderful accommodation, meals, tours, visits, etc all for very reasonable prices.

He certainly was a fantastic host, tour guide, minder, even mediator!!!!(when required)!!! We became good friends and our last night in Capetown Dirk and his lovely wife invited us to a fab meal, and B/B and then drove us to the airport the next day! All a very memorable experience and a wonderful stay in South Africa. We hope to return again in a year or two and would have no hesitation in contacting Dirk Joubert to ‘take charge’ of organising our stay from start to finish! He has all the attributes necessary to run a Touring business and is a great host. We wish him well. – Philip & Sandra Gray, Ireland

Dr VelamatiDr Velamati and his group of doctors from India visited SA.

He looked after our visit during our stay in Cape Town. Dirk was extremely sensitive to our needs and flexible in the programming, to make our trip a very memorable one.

If that experience is anything to go by, then his expansion to cover the entire country would be something to look forward.

Good luck and best wishes from all of us! Mohan Velamati

Definitely, we will again call upon Dirk Joubert to arrange and take care of us!

We so enjoyed our touring with Dirk for Alan and Eliska’s wedding. From the moment we arrived and met you, Dirk, we felt in very safe care and in the care of a professional company. Before we left we forwarded our wishes and hopes and numbers to you, for you to organise our trip. You delivered above our expectations!

If you recall we were a very mixed bunch..ages, aunts, children, all sorts!

Philip is already planning a return visit to South Africa, Jan or Feb 2014..he wants “we 4″ to travel … We are looking forward to it. Just “we four” this time!

Addo Elephant Park was so memorable, (not forgetting the decapitated bat) and the Garden Route through Knysna, Lagoon and Feather bed with the boat trip and Plettenberg Bay and right through our stay in Cape Town. A holiday never to be forgotten…

Dr Bernd Goldmann and FamilyDr Bernd Goldmann and Family in the Kruger National Park. They are from Koblenz in Germany.

Mr Dirk Joubert organized for my family (15 members) a wonderful tour in South Africa.   We started in Joburg, went to a wonderful lodge in the Drakensberg and had a nice stay in the Kruger Park. We were really happy to have him as a guide because he gave us a lot of information about the history and the social changes of South Africa. His knowledge about the animals was also outstanding. As a former geography teacher, he also could tell us a lot about the geological and historical development of the landscape. We were also surprised how he guided our group. There was never ever a kind of stress because he is very experienced in group dynamic processes. Next time, when we will come to South Africa, we will ask him again to work out a special tour for us.

Mit freundlichen Grüßen/with best regards

The success of our school exchange with South Africa is also a merit from Dirk Joubert, a former geographic teacher, who is predestined to guide, especially young people. So he provided the young people for the special beauty of South Africa.

The stars in the sky of the Karroo, the adventure tour through the Cango Caves or playing chess in the hotel – Dirk is always prepared to explain and to help- maintaining a good relationship to the pupils and to the teachers. We also had a benefit from his Garden Route – tour, which was well organized by Dirk. His good connections were also very helpful to make good selections.

So the whole tour became a very special experience for us!

He gave us a feeling of security and trust!

Full Day Cape Peninsula TourFull Day Cape Peninsula Tour – Louise & Volkmar from Muntelier, Switzerland

We spent a fantastic day with Dirk as our guide for the Cape Peninsula Tour. Dirk picked us up at our guesthouse at 8:30 in the morning with a very comfortable and spacious vehicle. It was a beautiful day and we made a few stops for photos of the Clifton and Camps Bay Beaches on the way to Hout Bay where we took the boat to Seal Island. A nice boat trip where we were very close to the seals and the island. Dirk has a great knowledge about the area we visited and of course, Geography but also about all the animals and the plants we saw as well about the history and actual topics in South Africa so we learned a lot in this one day.

When we stopped on Chapman’s peak for photo’s something amazing happened, the people told us that there were wales below in the water, something very unusual for March. It was fantastic to see the wales so close (mothers with babies as well) and the water was so clear. We could have watched them the whole day but we continued to the Cape Point National Park where Dirk had reserved a perfect table at the restaurant Two Oceans with a magnificent view of the sea and the coast. We had a delicious meal and a lot of fun and Dirk also helped us with our new camera since he has the same (the manual is very thick).  After lunch, we walked around and saw Elands close by and made photos of the beautiful beaches and rocks. We also went to the Cape of Good Hope, the most southwestern point of Africa and then continued to Simon’s Town where we visited Boulder’s Beach and the penguins.

This was definitely one of the best days we spent on our 3 weeks journey from Cape Town to PE (and we saw and did a lot on our trip), the landscape was stunning and we enjoyed Dirk’s company and appreciated his great knowledge and humour. We definitely would like to use Dirk as our guide in the future when we go on safari in other regions of South Africa (for example Krüger).

Hope to stay in touch and that we are able to travel to South Africa soon again and plan a great tour with you as our guide. It probably will take 2-3 years until we can do it but it is something we really would like to do.
We wish you lots of luck with DJ tours and safaris! We will recommend you if we hear of people going to SA.

Warm regards

Louise and Volkmar

West Coast Tour – Herman & Marleen from the Netherlands

Dirk was recommended to us. We were with a group in Cape Town and had seen the popular sights already twice. So, we wanted something different. We wanted to see the West Coast. Dirk was very accommodated and showed us around.

Not only his knowledge of the flora and fauna was amazing, but he also knew to find the animals. Besides that, he knew a lot about the villages and its history we passed and visited. We had a beautiful and memorable day.

So, if you are looking for someone who knows SA on his thumb then Dirk is the one you need to contact.

Martine et Robert HENRY from Paris, FranceMartine et Robert HENRY from Paris, France

On January 2015, my wife and I decided to spend two weeks in South Africa.
We flew from Paris to Cape Town and stayed for a couple of nights at Green Point in the Bluegum Hill Guesthouse.

We had no special plans for our stay.

Talking with the owner of our guesthouse, she recommended us to take Mr Dirk Joubert as a guide.

Mr Joubert immediately organised a tour for us on the south coast: Hermanus, Mossel Bay, Jeffreys Bay, Kirstenbosch garden, the vineyard road with wine tasting and many other places.

Very pleased with our first visit in South Africa, we came back in November 2016 and once more asked Mr Joubert to organised our stay this time on the west coast of Cape Town area.
We had a room at the Wintown Lagoon Hotel in Langebaan.

Mr Joubert showed us the Koeberk Science Centre (a nuclear power plant and its exhibition of the various electrical energy productions) Then we visited the West Coast National Park, Paternoster (picture attached) and many other places.

His availability, his knowledge of geography and history, his sense of humour and intelligence make of Mr Joubert a precious guide that we recommend to our friends who want to travel to South Africa.

We think to call on his services once more for our next trip planned the Kruger National Park.

Peggy Chen – Full day Peninsula Tour

My name is Peggy Chen. I am from Taiwan. I came to Stellenbosch to attend my doctoral graduation ceremony in late March 2017.

After my graduation ceremony, I had a tour around the Cape Town area. Dirk took me on the Full Day peninsula Tour He is a knowledgeable and friendly tour guide.

Being an ex-Teacher of History and Geography himself, he provides detailed knowledge of the sites he took people to. After I went back to Taiwan, my country, at times I still think of the tour Dirk did for me.

Dr Pat Reynolds from the United Kingdom

We greatly enjoyed our tour with Dirk. He took great care to understand our interests, and as a result, we got to visit some beautiful and fascinating places which otherwise we could not have discovered or reached. Dirk is a friendly guide, who was very happy to share with us his personal experiences.

Hope that hits the spot! Very cold in the UK at the moment, so nice to remember the warmth of Stellenbosch!

Filiberto Sebregondi and Hoyce Temu – Cape Peninsula Tour

Hoyce and I had the opportunity of enjoying the tourist and driving service of Dirk on two occasions in 2014 and 2016.

He took us around in Cape Town region to visit different touristic sites, including unknown ones.

Dirk is very knowledgeable of the region and can satisfy all kind of curiosity, from classical sight-touring to shopping, to food and “ordinary life” places. On our request, the even took us to 2nd-hand-car showrooms or to specialised clinics.

Dirk is reliable and of a very pleasant company; he is supported by his family, to the point that his son or his wife are available to take you around with or without Dirk, always in a very welcoming and friendly attitude.

We come from distant places (Italy and Tanzania) but can truly acknowledge the professional and friendly service provided by Dirk.

I would not hesitate to recommend his service to friends and companies.

Dirk, please accept our sincerest heartfelt thanks for the recent AAESS trip.

Just by following the day-2-day post and photos on facebook was more than
enough to make us jealous, yet also thankful that our kids had this once in
a lifetime opportunity to experience beautiful South Africa.

Now that they are back, they haven’t stopped talking about their trip,
evidence that they truly had an awesome time.

The excursions, accommodation, travel arrangements and of course the South
African food was organized in a manner that touches perfection.

I don’t think you realize what a huge impact this trip had on our kids and
this is in principle due to your company’s planning and effort.

Once again, thank you and we wish you and DJ Tours & Safaris all the best
with future projects and tour groups.

Regards,

Gill from the UK
We were a party of 4 from the UK, & asked DJ Tours & Safaris to provide a bespoke tour for 3 days at the end of a trip to South Africa. Dirk went to a lot of trouble to ascertain exactly what we had seen & what we would like to do, settling on a scenic drive to Stellenbosch, a lovely wine tour, and finishing with a trip to Paarl rocks & a braai.
Unfortunately, the weather curtailed the last day, but Dirk had a plan B, with Hermanus. Nothing was too much trouble for Dirk, who has extensive knowledge of his home country, particularly the fascinating geography.
