One of the most well-known tourist attraction areas in South Africa is known as the Garden Route. The Garden Route stretches from Mossel Bay to Storms River in the Eastern Cape. It is known for its beauty of forests, ancient trees, mountains and white sandy beaches.

Driving from Cape Town to the Garden Route, there are a few must-visit little towns and attractions along the way.

Mossel Bay

Mossel Bay is an old town, known for various beautiful historical buildings. The town has popular coffee shops, restaurants, and bars for any type of traveler. Mossel Bay can be a good stop-over, with a lot of Backpackers, guesthouses, and Hotels to visit. Spend a day on the beach and enjoy the ocean breeze.

Victoria Bay

Victoria Bay is a small beach town and one of the smallest bays on the Garden Route. This beautiful town is hidden 3km off the N2, between George and Wilderness. Victoria Bay is basically a small resort made up off cottages and a small beach which is a popular destination under the surfer community.


The World-famous “Wilderness” lies on the foot of the Outeniqua Mountains. The small town is an attractive holiday resort with beautiful beaches, restaurant and coffee shops. Wilderness lies 15 km from George on the way to Knysna. Activities in Wilderness include hiking, mountain biking, bird- and whale-watching, hang- and paragliding, horse-riding, scenic drives, day tours, angling, boating and other water sports.


Knysna is known to be a natural paradise with forests of indigenous trees and the beautiful ocean view. A trip to the Garden Route would be incomplete without a trip to the Knysna Heads, a geological feature made up of a pair of huge, brightly colored cliffs lying at the mouth of the Knysna lagoon.

Plettenberg Bay

Plettenberg Bay lies on the border of the Western Cape and the Eastern Cape. The town has a rich history of Portuguese Explorers visiting the town on a regular basis between the 15th and 16th century. Today, Plettenberg Bay is known as a pleasure-seeking hotspot for young travelers. Enjoy a walk on the white beaches.

Storms River

The Storms River is a scenic and well-known river that runs through the Tsitsikamma Mountain Range to the Indian Ocean. Storms River is a Key attraction for a lot of tourists, with its breath-taking views and adventure sports areas. Storms River village provides several adventure activities like the Canopy tours, bungee jumping from the Bloukrans River Bridge, the world’s highest at 216 meters, biking trails, fishing excursions and Black Water Tubing and kloofing.
